Lots of folks in Alaska seem to maintain dog teams. Some do it for practical reasons - snowmobiles break down, and they can't find their way home if you get lost. Others do it to run in the Iditarod, a 10+ day race from Anchorage to Nome.

These dogs belong to Raimey Reddington, son of Joe Reddington, Sr., who created the Iditarod sled dog race. They've run the race several times.

They're disconcertingly fast. We were being pulled by eight 40-pound dogs... who managed to pull three of us and a wheeled sled at about 10 miles an hour in 90 degree heat.

More glaciers. I forget which one this one was.

Pretty crevasses, though.

And a great warning sign.
